Where were the original houses at Plymouth’s Plantation? How do they relate to what we see today in downtown Plymouth? What really is the likelihood of there being anything left down there?
I think that the original Plantation layout was much more like it used to be portrayed at Plimoth Plantation- a rectangular palisade, not a diamond-shaped one. By looking at the population of Plymouth in the first decade of its existence and by examining the known building locations, I have tried to present an alternate view to how the original plantation appeared and have tried to predict where there may still be traces of at least the lots, if not the houses themselves.
